Air polishing (professional cleaning) Air polishing

Air polishing is a procedure that involves the removal of tooth stains, bacterial plaque and tartar with the help of a pressurized stream of water, air and tiny cleaning molecules (sodium bicarbonate).

The procedure is done by systematically cleaning every visible and hard to reach surface area of every tooth. Air polishing is virtually painless and is complete in approximately 20 minutes. At Fabdent the air polishing procedure (cleaning) is solely conducted by dental medical doctors.

How often should I air polish (professionally clean) my teeth?

We recommend our patients removing bacterial plaque and stains every 6-12 months. Patients whom are susceptible to bacterial plaque within the oral cavity including smokers, heavy coffee, tea, or red wine drinkers; we suggest more frequent visits every 3-4 months.

Air polishing is very effective in patients wearing fixed orthodontic braces. Due to the difficulty of properly cleaning all the teeth surfaces, we recommend this group of patients to professionally clean their teeth every 3 months.

Air polishing is also highly recommended prior to teeth whitening with the BEYOND system as it substantially improves the results of the procedure.
